The Press Assistant supports the Press Operator by preparing, loading, and maintaining printing equipment to meet quality and quantity goals. Responsibilities include changing press plates, mixing inks, performing quality checks, and ensuring a safe, clean work environment.
Candidates should have knowledge of production processes, quality control, and basic mathematics, along with the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to monitor machine operations are essential for this role.
**We will train the right candidate
Essential Functions:
· Change
press plates, blankets, or inserts as required.
· Clean
ink fountains, plates, or printing unit cylinders when press runs completed.
· Clean
oil presses.
·
Collect/inspect random samples during print runs to identify any adjustments
after each roll.
· Feed paper
through press cylinder and adjust feed and tension controls.
· Load
presses with paper and make necessary adjustments, according to paper size.
· Mix
inks and fill ink fountains.
· Verify
paper and ink meet job specifications.
· Secure
printing plates to printing units and adjust tolerances.
· Estimate
and deliver upon schedules and plans.
· Quality
checks.
· Maintain
a safe and clean work environment.
· Comply
with company policies and procedures.
· Provide
off-hours support.
· Performs other duties as
may be
assigned.
