The responsibilities of the Youth Services Program Manager will include program assistance, implementation and development as well as support of and assistance with all activities and programs for children in kindergarten through high school that occur during the year. Including, but not limited to, after school care, winter, spring and summer camp, enrichment classes, JCAtion Days when schools are closed, social activities, some sports programs, functions related to ad hoc committees, and assorted JCA agency wide programs. The Youth Services Program Manager is also responsible for providing supervision and the necessary leadership to ensure the efficiency and success of the department. Work will require evenings and weekends as programs dictate.

Essential Functions

To ensure the well-being of each child in the program by providing the adequate supervision and support necessary for their safety and educational and emotional development.

To develop lesson plans and activities that are enriching, interesting and meaningful.

Assist in the coordination of transportation for the afterschool program.

Provide on going supervision and management to support staff; lead and motivate; ensure proper ratios.

Keep the Youth Services area safe, clean and aesthetically pleasing.

Work closely with other departments for the best utilization of space for program implementation.

Communicate (verbally and in writing) in a timely and professional fashion to supervisors, support staff and program participants, including parents and children.

Follow JCA policies and procedures and model them.

Dress appropriately in JCA attire. Look professional.

Build relationships with members, program participants and community supporters.

To participate as part of a team in cooperative manner with all co-workers; know your immediate supervisor and respond to their direction in a willing manner; do your fair share.

Use marketing and public relations techniques as needed to grow programs and be creative; to increase attendance and participation.

To complete all paperwork and other tasks that are related to any of the above-mentioned programs including, but not limited to, program planners, marketing requests, budgets, purchase orders, communication, etc.

To communicate professionally and effectively with parents.

To attend all required staff and in-service meetings throughout the year.

To meet all applicable requirements by the Florida Department of Children and Families and other agencies and authorities.

To provide an environment in which Jewish awareness and appreciation of Jewish culture is fostered.

To help enforce the Youth Services Departmental policies such as sick policies, car pool procedures, kosher policy, etc.

Always display a positive and professional attitude towards our program when engaging in conversation with parents and members outside of our department. Negative concerns should be expressed directly to the Youth Services Director.

To display knowledge and understanding of the developmental levels of the age group with whom you are working.

Reacting to change productively, handling other essential tasks as necessary and general responsibilities of all JCA Staff which may include participation in staff meetings, building tours for prospective members, participation in programs or events as required or other staff team functions.

Orient new staff hired during the year using the staff manual as a guide as necessary.

Off-site travel to vendors and/or other such locations as necessary.

Weekend and evening work is expected at times.
