Full job description
Purpose of the job position:
The Software Developer (Internal Products) is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the web applications that make up iVigee's internal product portfolio, including our pharmacovigilance reporting, signal management, and workflow automation platforms. This individual works across the stack, with primary depth in Next.js and Node.js, translating product requirements into well-structured, performant, and maintainable applications used daily by internal delivery teams and, increasingly, by our clients. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who has shipped and supported production web applications, takes ownership of quality from design through release, writes code that colleagues can read and extend, and is eager to grow quickly in a small, fast-moving product team where sound judgement matters as much as technical skill.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Application Development and Delivery:
Design, build, and maintain features across iVigee's internal product suite using Next.js, React, and Node.js.
Develop and consume REST APIs, integrating front-end applications with backend services, relational databases, and third-party systems.
Translate product requirements and wireframes into responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces.
Deliver work in short, predictable iterations, carrying features from local development through review, testing, and release.
Technical Design and Code Quality:
Contribute to architecture and design decisions for new modules, covering data models, component structure, state management, and API contracts.
Write clean, documented, and testable code, and participate actively in peer code reviews.
Diagnose and resolve defects, performance bottlenecks, and production issues, addressing root cause rather than symptoms.
Apply secure development practices across authentication, authorization, input validation, and the handling of sensitive data.
Product Collaboration and Support:
Work directly with product leads and internal users to clarify requirements, propose practical options, and refine scope.
Support the release process, including build pipelines, environment configuration, and deployment to cloud-hosted environments.
Maintain technical documentation for the applications you own so that others can support and extend the work.
Provide timely support for issues raised by internal users and by client-facing delivery teams.
Team Contribution and Continuous Improvement:
Collaborate with backend, data, and validation colleagues so that changes remain compatible with the wider platform and with GxP expectations where they apply.
Share knowledge through code reviews and technical walkthroughs, and support colleagues joining the codebase.
Identify and propose improvements to tooling, developer workflow, and application performance.
Keep current with the Next.js and Node.js ecosystems and adopt new capabilities where they bring a clear benefit.
Specific requirements for the position:
Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Experience
At least 2 years of hands-on software development experience building and supporting production web applications.
Practical, project-level experience with Next.js and Node.js, including work that has been released to real users.
Experience working with relational databases and integrating applications with external APIs and services.
Prior experience in a regulated industry such as life sciences, pharmacovigilance, or healthcare is a plus.
Special skills
Strong command of JavaScript and TypeScript, modern React patterns, and the Next.js rendering, routing, and data-fetching model.
Practical experience with server-side Node.js development, REST API design, authentication, and session handling.
Working knowledge of SQL and relational data modeling; exposure to Python and FastAPI is a plus.
Familiarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and cloud hosting, with Microsoft Azure preferred.
Ability to take a feature from requirement to release and work productively with light supervision.
Language skills
Excellent English communication skills with strong command over written and spoken language.
Ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to non-technical colleagues.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced product environment.
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
Computer skills
Excellent proficiency with modern development tooling, including Git, an IDE such as VS Code, Node-based build tooling, and API testing tools, strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
