Lead the social-first brand communication and creative direction for MushRoots, focusing on storytelling and content across digital and real-world experiences. Manage the brand voice, produce high-quality marketing assets in-house, and mentor a Junior Social Media Manager.
Requires 5+ years of experience in brand or social communications with a strong portfolio of storytelling and content production. Must be fluent in both German and English and proficient in design and AI tools to create polished marketing materials.

This is a senior creative leadership role - and it sits at the heart of how our consumer brand, MushRoots shows up in the world. Its engine is social-first content and storytelling, but its influence reaches across our whole brand and communications: you'll be a creative voice at the table, shaping how we think, sound and show up, not just what we post.
We're building our creative muscle in-house - fast, hands-on, and social-first - and we're looking for the senior creative operator who will own it. You'll take our mushroom-first vision and turn it into stories, copy, content, campaigns and real-world experiences that make people stop, feel something, and come back. Strategy and craft. Big-picture and hands-on. (Mobile) screen and street.
MushRoots is our consumer brand - mushroom-based food products including Pilz-Hack, Pilz-Bällchen, and Pilz-Patties, available in REWE and other retail chains. As our interim Senior Digital Marketing Manager, you will own our paid and organic digital presence for MushRoots, driving brand awareness, performance, and growth primarily through Instagram.
Your Mission:
Shape our brand & communications
Act as a senior creative voice across brand and comms — influencing positioning, messaging, campaign concepts and creative direction well beyond social.
Bring a strong creative point of view to the brand leadership table, and help set the standard for how MushRoots communicates everywhere.
Own the brand story & voice
Translate our mushroom-first vision into a distinctive, consistent brand voice — across copy, stories, social campaigns and experiences, full-funnel from awareness to conversion.
Write creative copy and craft stories that make people care about mushrooms: captions, scripts, campaign lines, launch narratives, and the supporting assets around them.
Guard tone, voice and visual identity across every touchpoint — warm, witty, grounded, unmistakably MushRoots.
Lead social-first
Own and grow our brand's social media accounts with a clear, platform-native strategy and content calendar.
Set the goals that matter — engagement, reach, community growth — and hold the bar on quality not quantity or number of posts.
Produce and ship high-quality, platform-native content (reels, stories, posts, video), and keep experimenting with new formats before they're obvious.
Build and nurture an engaged community; find and amplify the best user-generated content and ensure the brand connects with our core fanbase in an authentic way.
Produce hands-on, in-house
Create marketing assets across the full funnel, fast, without waiting on an agency queue.
Use design and AI tools to make graphics and smaller marketing materials yourself — building our in-house creation engine as you go.
Support influencer and creator collaborations that fit who we are.
Lead & grow the team
Manage, coach and level up a Junior Social Media Manager — and build the in-house creative culture around you, with smart and selective freelance support for peak activation moments and new product launches.
5+ years in brand, content, social or communications, with real ownership of channels and campaigns you can point to — and the seniority to shape brand and comms thinking, not just execute it.
Exceptional storytelling, copywriting and content-production skills — you write and make, you don't just brief.
Social-native: you think platform-first and understand what makes content work today.
Fluency in design tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe, Canva) and AI creation tools (image, video, copy) — enough to produce polished graphics and marketing material yourself. This is core to how we build in-house.
A genuine hands-on maker mentality — you love building in-house, moving fast, and getting your hands dirty.
First people-leadership experience, or the clear readiness and appetite to manage and mentor.
Comfortable with data — you read performance and let it sharpen the work.
Fluent German and English — German copywriting is core to this role, not a nice-to-have.
Passionate about food & beverage, with a real feel for culture and consumer behavioral.
You can shoot and/or edit social video.
A flair for German copy with edge;
Experience in founder led content and close alignment for tone and messaging
Experience creating brand experiences and events, not just content.
