Title: Food Rescue Driver - Columbus Food Rescue (Part-Time)

Reports to: Chef - Ro's Kitchen

Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: The Food Rescue Driver supports logistics and distribution operations for Ro's Kitchen/Columbus Food Rescue. This position completes scheduled and impromptu food rescue pickups and meal deliveries, ensuring safe transport and supporting documentation requirements tied to CSBG and other funding sources.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily rescue schedules and coordinate logistics with kitchen leadership
  • Complete scheduled food rescue pickups and meal deliveries on time
  • Fulfill last-minute rescue requests as feasible
  • Ensure safe loading, unloading, and transport of food items
  • Maintain delivery logs, mileage records, and required documentation
  • Support CSBG and grant-related reporting requirements through accurate recordkeeping
  • Maintain professional relationships with donating and receiving agencies
  • Conduct vehicle safety checks and report maintenance needs
  • Adhere to all IMPACT policies and procedures
  • When food rescues or deliveries are not scheduled, assist with kitchen operations and related kitchen duties as assigned

Work Environment

Regular driving throughout Franklin County and surrounding areas is required. Employees may work in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions, including heat, rain, snow, ice, cold temperatures, and severe weather common to Central Ohio. Duties require frequent entering and exiting of vehicles, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, and working in kitchen, warehouse, and food handling environments. Employees must follow all food safety and workplace safety procedures at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Ohio driver's license
  • Ability to be insured under IMPACT Community Action's vehicle insurance policy
  • Clean driving record demonstrating safe, responsible, and lawful driving practices
  • Weekend availability required, with flexibility to accommodate scheduled and occasional last-minute food rescue or delivery needs
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) preferred, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse community partners and stakeholders
