About Coherent in Switzerland Coherent Corp. Zurich is a key research and production hub specializing in advanced photonics, engineered materials, and high-power semiconductor laser technologies. Our teams develop and manufacture opto-electronic components and laser diodes for industrial, optical data transmission, life science, and high-precision applications, combining strong in-house R&D with state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing in an engineering-led culture.
As an Equipment Technician in Test Development, you support the development of semiconductor test equipment from design and evaluation through system bring-up and production release. Responsibilities include hardware assembly, debugging, test execution, system validation, supporting production ramp, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on complex manufacturing and test systems (e.g. wafer probers, measurement systems, and reliability testing equipment)
Conduct systematic fault analysis and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and electronic assemblies
Ensure equipment availability and process stability
Document service and maintenance activities within the maintenance management system
Support the assembly, integration, and commissioning of new equipment and subsystems
Perform functional testing and qualification activities
Build, modify, and troubleshoot electronic assemblies
Contribute to design improvements and the continuous optimization of existing systems
Qualifications
Completed technical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline such as Mechanical Design, Mechatronics, Automation, Electronics, Industrial Mechanics, or a comparable technical field
Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, precision engineering, or another high-tech manufacturing environment is advantageous
Initial experience maintaining or supporting complex production equipment is desirable
Skills & Other Requirements
Strong technical understanding of electromechanical systems and automation
Careful, structured, and independent working style, including the ability to work in a cleanroom environment
Team-oriented mindset, healthy self-reflection, and the motivation to continuously improve processes
Working proficiency German skills; English language skills are advantageous
