Job Overview
The AMI Electric Buyer/Planner is responsible for managing procurement, material planning, and supplier performance for assigned commodities and product lines. This role partners closely with internal teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to ensure material availability, support production schedules, and meet customer delivery commitments. The ideal candidate will possess strong purchasing and planning expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
A Day In The Life
Duties and Responsibilities
Create, release, maintain, and monitor purchase orders to support make-to-stock production requirements.
Manage product serialization activities and ensure data accuracy across assigned product groups.
Review inventory availability and allocate existing stock to customer sales orders based on priority and demand requirements.
Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Logistics, and Manufacturing teams to establish priorities and provide timely updates on material availability and order status.
Maintain and communicate sales order fulfillment and shipping schedules.
Conduct regular reviews with suppliers and contract manufacturers to assess production schedules, delivery performance, capacity, and overall supplier performance.
Monitor open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery, proactively identify supply risks, and expedite materials when necessary.
Partner with Quality, Finance, and suppliers to resolve material, invoice, payment, and quality-related issues.
Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for assigned commodities, suppliers, and procurement systems.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and escalate data integrity, ERP, and serialization issues as needed.
Coordinate with Logistics and Warehouse teams to ensure efficient shipment planning, receipt processing, and inventory movement.
Collaborate with Planning, Operations, and suppliers to develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts and supply plans.
Analyze inventory levels and implement actions to reduce excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory while maintaining service level targets.
Support inventory management activities, including cycle counts, audits, reconciliations, and root cause analysis of inventory discrepancies.

Skills and Experience
Experience in purchasing or materials planning within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of procurement, production planning, inventory control, and supplier management principles.
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree preferred
