At Hillcrest, our mission is simple: Inspiring people to live their best lives. As a Maintenance Technician, you will help create safe, functional, clean, and well-maintained environments for residents, guests, team members, and visitors across our organization.
What You’ll Do
As a Maintenance Technician, you will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance responsibilities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, preventative maintenance, and general building repair.
Your primary locations will be the Hillcrest corporate office and Freedom Village, while also providing maintenance support at other Hillcrest communities when needed.
You will:

Troubleshoot and coordinate repairs for fixed and movable building equipment.
Maintain office equipment, kitchen equipment, hand and power tools, vacuums, and building mechanical systems.
Complete preventative maintenance and demand work orders accurately and timely.
Utilize Hillcrest's internal maintenance reporting system to receive, document, and complete work requests.
Identify potential maintenance concerns before they become larger issues and take appropriate action.
Assist departments with moving and setting up furniture, equipment, and other items.
Maintain maintenance shops, garages, storage areas, grounds, and assigned work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Assist with facility cleaning or housekeeping responsibilities when needed, including public areas, offices, floors, windows, and trash removal.
Follow appropriate chemical-use, safety, and cross-contamination procedures.
Maintain required maintenance logs, inspections, and checklists.
Notify leadership promptly of damage, hazardous conditions, safety concerns, or emergency situations.
Assist with ordering approved parts, supplies, and equipment while following budget guidelines and approved-vendor requirements.
Provide maintenance coverage and assistance at other Hillcrest communities as operational needs require.
Respond to after-hours emergency maintenance needs and weekend responsibilities as assigned.
The position includes responsibility for completing work orders, preventative maintenance, equipment repair, building upkeep, and department support while helping maintain safe and functional facilities.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is hands-on, dependable, and comfortable working independently while supporting multiple departments and locations.
The right candidate will be able to troubleshoot problems, prioritize work orders, and take ownership of maintenance needs from identification through completion. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys variety, solving problems, and seeing the direct results of their work.
Ideal candidates will have:
Previous building, facility, property, or general maintenance experience.
Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to identify maintenance concerns and determine the appropriate next steps.
Experience completing preventative maintenance and responding to work orders.
Strong attention to safety, cleanliness, and facility appearance.
Ability to manage multiple maintenance priorities and respond appropriately to urgent needs.
A self-directed work style with strong accountability and follow-through.
Strong customer-service skills when interacting with residents, team members, vendors, and visitors.
Ability to work effectively across different buildings, departments, and Hillcrest communities.
A calm, flexible, and professional approach when responding to unexpected maintenance issues or emergencies.
Comfort using technology and electronic work-order systems.
A team-first attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
At least two years of building-maintenance experience preferred.
Knowledge of HVAC systems preferred.
Formal HVAC schooling or training preferred.
Previous experience in healthcare, senior living, multifamily housing, commercial facilities, or a similar environment is helpful.
