The Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with clinical procedures, while collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure safe transitions. They are responsible for maintaining effective communication regarding patient status and participating in unit performance improvement activities.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and have completed a certified nursing assistant, medical assistant, or equivalent PCT program. A Basic Health Care Life Support certification is required within 60 days of hire, and prior hospital experience is strongly preferred.
