The welder is responsible for assembling and welding metal components according to technical specifications and blueprints. They must also maintain their work area, perform equipment maintenance, and ensure quality control of all assemblies.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to pass AWS D14.1 certification tests. Proficiency in various welding techniques and the ability to operate shop equipment like cranes and forklifts is required.

Welds and assembles metal pieces and products by using handheld welding equipment. Sets up parts for welding; uses hand tools, clamps, jigs and fixtures. Works from specifications, drawings and weld symbols. Prepares and completes work on materials by welding, cutting, grinding and cleaning metal.
