Standard Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
This position is part of our standard 50-hour workweek schedule. Additional overtime and occasional Saturdays may be required based on project needs, weather conditions, and customer schedules.
Candidates must be willing to be flexible as project demands and schedules may change.
Position Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy
construction equipment and fleet vehicles to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This position
performs preventative maintenance, repairs mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems, and
responds to field service calls to minimize equipment downtime.
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance on heavy construction equipment, trucks, trailers, and support equipment.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air brake systems, steering, suspension, and driveline components.
- Troubleshoot engine performance, hydraulic failures, electrical issues, and computerized control systems. Inspect equipment for safety concerns, excessive wear, and needed repairs.

- Complete DOT inspections and repair commercial vehicles as required.
- Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and equipment modifications as needed.
- Utilize diagnostic software and electronic service tools to identify equipment issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow OSHA, DOT, company safety policies, and manufacturer repair procedures.
- Perform other tasks as needed or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience repairing heavy construction equipment.
- Class A or B CDL with clean MVR.
- Tanker and/ or Hazmat endorsement.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, powertrain, braking, and steering systems.
- Experience servicing excavators, dozers, wheel loaders, skid steers, compactors, off-road dump trucks, service trucks, and trailers.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems independently.
- Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and parts breakdowns.
- Must provide personal hand tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to prioritize repairs in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Ability to work in changing weather conditions and construction environments.
Preferred:
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
- Experience servicing excavators, dozers, wheel loaders, skid steers, articulated trucks, rollers, and other heavy construction equipment.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs, lubrication systems, and oil sampling procedures.
- Basic knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and equipment diagnostics.
- Experience using electronic or computerized maintenance records.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
- Must be able to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Must be able to safely work around heavy equipment, excavation activities, and active construction sites.

Compensation: $42.00-$52.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Compensation includes the opportunity for consistent overtime through our standard 50-hour work schedule.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
