The associate will support volunteer engagement programs, including remote outreach initiatives and community partnership development. They will also assist in planning educational events and recruiting fellows for the Leadership in Action program.
Applicants must be full-time students at Grand Canyon University with a minimum GPA of 2.0 for bachelor's or 3.0 for master's students. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, reliable transportation, and a commitment to the university's student-first policy.
Position Summary/Purpose: Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents’ needs.
GCU maintains a partnership with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul located at 420 W Watkins Road, Phoenix, AZ, 85003. St. Vincent de Paul provides services to the homeless, food boxes for the food-insecure, medical/dental care for uninsured patients, and housing/shelter for the unhoused. The CSLP student worker’s work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul; however, CSLP student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall/spring).
CSLP: This position has been reviewed and approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b). Per 34 CFR 675.2(b), community services are defined as, “Services which are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their need.” These services must be open and accessible to the community.
As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents).
Note: All FWS and FWS-CSLP positions require applicants to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility and awarded FWS.
