Job Summary:

The Recovery Specialist II/Residential Counselor II is an evolution of the basic, Recovery Specialist I/Residential Counselor I position. Recovery Specialist II/Residential Counselor II staff is expected to continue to fulfill all expectations of a Recovery Specialist I/RC I. In addition to those expectations, the Recovery Specialist II/residential Counselor II will take more of a leadership role and focus on medication room compliance. To participate in the development of reasonable limits and structure for each person served and to implement these limits on a daily basis in the residence and community in a fair and consistent

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enforce strict adherence to medication monitoring protocols and room organization standards to ensure regulatory compliance and patient safety.
  • Audit and Analysis: Conduct regular and comprehensive audits of medication rooms to identify inconsistencies, errors, and potential risk factors. Analyze audit findings to determine root causes and trends.
  • Process Enhancement: Collaborate with relevant teams to refine medication monitoring and room management processes. Implement additional checks and balances to prevent errors and improve efficiency.
  • Training and Education: Deliver targeted trainings to educate staff on proper medication monitoring techniques, room organization, and compliance protocols.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance medication room operations by staying informed about industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Communication and Reporting: Foster open communication among team members regarding compliance issues, updates, and changes. Provide regular reports to leadership on audit results, improvements, and areas for further attention.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Work closely with cross-functional teams to promote a collaborative approach to compliance and patient safety. Lead by example, inspiring others to prioritize accuracy and compliance.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify potential risks associated with medication administration and room management. Implement strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.
  • Feedback Loop: Establish a mechanism for team members to provide feedback on compliance challenges and suggest improvements. Use this feedback to refine processes and training materials

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Good communication skills both verbal and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with conflict in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to master First Aid, CPR, Defensive Driving, Fire Safety and monitoring Medication.
  • Ability to maintain proper attendance.
  • Displays sound judgment.
  • Works well as a team member.
  • Seeks and uses management staff for training and supervision.
  • Attends Agency and Department required meetings and trainings
  • Displays excellent supervisory and delegation skills
  • Ability to deal with diverse population at varied levels of management
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Physical demands are located at the end of this job description
