The Lead Enrichment Technician will work closely with colleagues and the Behavior team to ensure the highest level of holistic care for animals with Franklin Biolabs by providing enrichment to all animals and behavioral support as needed. Lead Technician will follow the program for psychological well-being of laboratory animals by performing behavioral assessments, implementing enrichment programs, and conducting behavioral training and modifications that may be used for experimental procedures. Lead technicians will manage training program of animals and will ensure compliance with Franklin Biolab SOPs and policy, regulatory guidelines and departmental standard operating procedures as it pertains to the ethical animal care and use. Training of PCM and study support staff in the techniques and procedures required for administering enrichment, performing behavior assessments and monitoring overall well-being in NHPs and other animals within the vivarium. Ability to lead and execute in all areas of the behavior management program. Provide support to Franklin Biolab's discovery and preclinical research programs conducted in laboratory animals
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in animal related field and 3-5 years of laboratory animal experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Certifications or Licenses:
Certification by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) as Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of regulatory compliance and agencies (USDA, OLAW, FDA, AAALAC).
Knowledge of animal care and use and regulatory expectations.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate through conflicting situations.
Self-directed individual with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with limited direction, completing priorities under tight deadlines.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to interact with team members, clients, vendors and other third parties.
Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals across various disciplines to ensure alignment.
Ability to use digital communication tools (video conferencing, chat platforms etc.) to effectively collaborate with team members in hybrid and remote settings.

On-Site:
This position requires full-time on-site presence at our Discovery Labs location.
Immunizations and Screenings:
This position will require working with animals (e.g. Non-Human Primates, Rabbits, Rats, Mice).
This position will require access to lab animal spaces.
Essential Status:
Essential for Closure: This position may be required to go on-site during company closures to sustain the life and care of animals/biological materials. Examples of company closures include snow days, special shutdowns, etc.
Essential for Research: This position may be required to go on-site to perform their regular work functions related to continued research during periods of adjusted operations. This would not likely be required to go on-site during a company closure under normal business operations.
Vision:
Ability to distinguish between different colors (normal color vision).
Ability to see clearly at various distances.
Adequate near vision for reading documents or lab equipment.
Ability to focus and maintain concentration in tasks for extended periods.
