Fouts Bros, Inc. is seeking an experienced, hands-on Safety/Training Manager to lead safety compliance, and employee training initiatives. This role manages safety protocols and training frameworks across our commercial truck and fire apparatus manufacturing assembly lines. The goal is to sustain a proactive culture of safety, minimize workplace incidents, and ensure all employees are trained and compliant in safety. This position will be responsible for both locations.
Key Responsibilities
Occupational Health & Safety Management
Enforce Standards: Maintain OSHA-compliant protocols regarding heavy equipment, assembly hazards, welding, and chemical handling.
Conduct Audits: Perform routine plant inspections and hazard risk assessments to proactively eliminate dangers.
Investigate Incidents: Lead root-cause analysis for workplace near-misses or injuries and implement swift corrective actions.
Regulatory Liaison: Manage workers' compensation cases and act as the primary contact for federal, state, and local regulatory visits.
Workforce Training & Development
Design Curriculums: Create, update, and deploy comprehensive safety and technical operational training programs.
New Hire Onboarding: Deliver safety training to incoming fabricators, welders, and technicians before independent plant placement.
Track and Report Compliance: Manage the internal Learning Management System (LMS) to track mandatory employee safety certifications.
Lead Committees: Direct the company Safety Committee to promote peer-to-peer accountability across shifts.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience directly managing workforce safety and technical training programs.
Environment: Direct experience working within a manufacturing or heavy industrial assembly facility.
Regulations: In-depth operational knowledge of US OSHA standards and EPA general industry rules.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
Relevant industry credentials such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP).
AuthorizedOSHA 30-Hour or OSHA 500 trainer status.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively train diverse teams from shop floor workers to executive leadership.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and modern LMS platforms.
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk and stand on concrete surfaces across a large 700,000-sq.-ft. facility for extended periods.
Comfortable working around active vehicle assembly lines, noise, dust, and automated manufacturing equipment.
