Labourer – Residential Construction
Excel Homes is looking for a reliable, safety-minded Labourer to join our residential construction team. If you enjoy hands-on work, take pride in keeping job sites organized and safe, and want to build your skills in the homebuilding industry, this may be a great opportunity for you.
In this role, you will work alongside our Site Assistant and Superintendent to support day-to-day construction activity, help prepare homes and job sites for trades, and contribute to a clean, safe, and well-run community.

The Role
As a Labourer, you will help keep our construction sites clean, organized, safe, and ready for trades. You will support general labour, material handling, site clean-up, fencing, snow removal when required, and other tasks that help our teams deliver quality homes safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Do
- Load, unload, and move construction materials safely to designated work areas
- Install and maintain site fencing to help protect the public, property, and active work areas
- Keep job sites clean, organized, and ready for incoming trades
- Remove rubble, garbage, and construction debris from homes and job sites
- Assist with digging, lifting, moving equipment, and other physical labour as required
- Shovel snow and help maintain safe access around job sites when needed
- Complete paint sweeps and other site preparation tasks
- Lock homes at the end of the day within the community
- Follow Excel Homes’ safety programs and all applicable safety legislation at all times
- Support the Site Assistant, Superintendent, and construction team with additional site-related tasks as needed
What We’re Looking For
- 1+ year of related construction or labour experience is preferred, but we are also open to candidates with the right attitude and willingness to learn
- A safety-first mindset and the ability to follow direction, site rules, and safe work practices
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and comfort using them safely
- A strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in doing the job well
- A positive, can-do attitude with the ability to adapt when priorities change
- An interest in residential construction and a desire to continue building skills in the industry
- The ability to work well with site teams, trades, and supervisors in a busy construction environment
What You’ll Need
- High school diploma or GED is preferred
- A valid Alberta driver’s licence and clean driving record are required; a company vehicle will be provided for work-related travel between assigned communities and job sites
- The ability to frequently lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Comfort working outdoors in changing weather conditions
Helpful Extras

- PHBI courses or other residential construction training
