Assists orthopedic physicians with patient care, including the application and care of casts, splints, and external fixators. Manages patient flow, documentation, and clinical preparation for procedures and surgeries.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and an Orthopedic Tech Certification along with AHA BLS certification. Orthopedic experience is preferred.

EDOC Clinic (Rancho Mirage)1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violation.
2. Operates according to all policy and procedures, demonstrating competency and knowledge of the clinic environment.
3. Assists physician with procedures; anticipates physician’s needs and procures appropriate supplies prior to start of procedure.
4. Maintains orderly and appropriately stocked treatment area and exam rooms.
5. Assists with putting away supplies and room turnover.
6. Applies orthopedic devices (i.e., casts, splints, braces) to patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric.
7. Accepts responsibilities only within scope of practice.
8. Answers phone messages and returns patient calls during same business day.
9. Obtains patient history and prep physician as requested.
10. Performs removal of sutures or staples; changes dressings; schedules tests.
11. Logs nurse notes and medication refills in patient charts.
12. Assists with appropriately managing patient flow.
13. Collects documentation for surgery, orders, consents, etc.
14. Prepares surgery charts for doctor and charts for clinic; scans patient records.
15. Processes DME applications; if DME Coordinator is not available.
16. Keeps current with new techniques and equipment through participation in continuing education.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
