Position Summary
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, or designee, this is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the Kahr Bearing Engineering team responsible for design, development, and testing of new and existing products and supporting manufacturing. This position will collaborate with all areas of the organization, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and sales, to provide a solution to the customers’ design challenges.
Responsibilities:
Ensure safety is the foundation of daily work through vigilance and accountability.
Perform engineering analysis (stress, FEA, fatigue) and apply problem-solving methods to support new product development and/or sustaining production of existing designs.
Create & review new designs for conformance to customer requirements & and proper application of engineering principles.
Apply, evaluate, and optimize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to facilitate inspection and manufacturing.
Write test plans and test reports in support of new programs to demonstrate compliance to customer specifications.
Interact with customers to clarify design intent and technical requirements.
Maintain accurate, orderly project records, including design and test data, customer specifications, directives, etc.
Direct fellow engineers as well as designers & drafters in design concepts and optimization to meet strict deadlines.
Provide direction and assistance on development and qualification test programs.
Serve as engineering representative on the Material Review Board (MRB) to facilitate disposition of non-conforming product.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with 2 years related work experience OR Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Familiarity with stress analysis (FEA), tolerance analysis and GD&T.
Working knowledge of 3D modeling software (Pro/Engineer or CREO preferred).
Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
Excellent MS Office skills.
Mathcad, MATLAB, LabVIEW software familiarity.
Self-starter who demonstrates a sense of urgency in meeting customer expectations and delivering results.
Ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical problems and communicate in clear simple terms.
Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position.
Preferred Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 3 years related work experience OR Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 1 year related work experience (full time or internship).
Work experience directly related to hydraulic component design and/or manufacture.
Familiarity with electronic and/or hydraulic control system design.
Prior exposure to metal forming and manufacturing methods & processes.
Familiarity with fatigue analysis, fastener analysis, and material & process control.
Mechanical aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects.
Familiarity with DMAIC (or equivalent) problem solving methodology.
Prior ANSYS and CREO Experience
Prior solid mechanics background
Prior experience using MATLAB, Simulink or similar coding languages
ITAR Requirement:
Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires that the employee must be a U.S. Citizen.
Quality Requirement:
Employees will participate in understanding, implementing and maintaining the Company Quality Policy in accordance with AS-9100 and/or ISO-9001 requirements.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
The employee will be required to move throughout the building to collect, handle and process production parts.
