Material Handler – Fabric 

 

Job Summary

The Material Handler – Fabric Picking plays a vital role in supporting the production of upholstered furniture by accurately locating, pulling, and delivering fabric materials to designated production areas. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with team members, take responsibility for their tasks, strive for excellence in their performance, and contribute to a positive and enjoyable work environment.

 

Department and Reporting Structure

  • Department: Fabric Department
  • Reports To: Operations Manager
  • Direct Reports: None

 

Key Responsibilities

  • We Own It: Accurately locate and pick fabric materials from inventory based on production orders or requests, ensuring correct type, color, and quantity.
  • We Give Our All: Deliver picked fabric to designated production workstations promptly to meet production deadlines.
  • We Are Family: Collaborate with team members to maintain a cohesive and supportive work environment.
  • Inspect fabric during picking to identify any defects or quality issues, reporting them to the Fabric Department Lead.
  • Maintain organized storage areas and ensure materials are easily accessible.
  • Use inventory management systems to update the status of picked materials and report shortages.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with inventory counts and audits to maintain accurate records.
  • Adhere to workplace safety protocols, fostering a safe and secure work environment.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, preferably in fabric or textile handling.

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in picking orders.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory management systems.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Certifications

  • Forklift certification is preferred or required within 90 days of hire.
