Through trusted services such as Passports, Citizenship, and Births, Deaths and Marriages, our diverse team works across Aotearoa and internationally at the intersection of innovation and integrity, protecting identity, supporting belonging, and making a real difference to people’s lives. 

The role | Te tūnga  

As a Life and Identity Services Officer (LISO), you play a vital role in enabling people to access trusted identity and life event services, including Passports, Citizenship, and Births, Deaths and Marriages. You will engage with customers through a range of channels, Contact Centre, frontline services and assessment-based, providing clear advice, carefully assessing applications, and making sound decisions within legislative and policy frameworks.

Working as part of a collaborative team based in Auckland, you will balance customer care with accuracy, risk awareness and timeliness. You will support equitable access to services, assist customers to use digital channels, and apply professional judgement in complex or sensitive cases.

What you bring | Nōu te rourou

  • Experience in a customer-focused or service delivery environment, with the ability to manage complex or sensitive interactions 
  • Strong attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to meet quality, consistency, and timeliness standards 
  • Confidence applying sound judgement when assessing information and making decisions 
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with diverse stakeholders 
  • Digital confidence, including the ability to use core systems and support customers to transact in an increasingly online environment 
  • A collaborative, adaptable mindset, with a willingness to learn and contribute positively to team culture and continuous improvement

The salary range for this role is $62,947 – $78,334. Starting salaries are typically offered at the starting range of this role, depending on skills and experience.
