The Porter is responsible for inspecting, driving, and performing routine maintenance on trucks and equipment. They must maintain communication with the Yard Manager and ensure all safety requirements are strictly followed.
Candidates must possess a Class B CDL with Air Brake and a clean driving record with minimal violations or accidents. Preferred qualifications include Hazmat and Tanker endorsements and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Location: Kansas City, MO
Summary:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water.
• Drives truck or equipment to assigned location.
• Maintains telephone or radio contact with Yard Manager to receive instructions.
• Cleans inside of truck. Performs routine maintenance on truck or equipment.
• Must have a working knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and practice them.
• When assigned, will open a work order so time may be charged out to assigning department.
• Reports accidents to HR immediately, obtaining names, license numbers and other details.
• Must work with and for all departments in harmony.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
High skill level driving heavy trucks and cranes. Highly detail oriented and organized in work. Acceptable written and oral communication skills. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a customer service focus with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results. Must have initiative and the ability act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives. Must possess a strong desire to learn.
