Job Description

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resource Generalist will support the Human Resources Operations, Employee Experience, and Culture and Talent Management initiatives. Under the direction of the Vice President of Administration & Operations the Human Resource Generalist will lead talent management, employee experience, and employee onboarding, and ensure CSWE compliance with employment laws, and human resources policies align with the mission and values of the organization.

The HR Generalist will support the day-to-day administration of human resources functions.  This person will be people-centered, a problem solver and ensures to have a thorough understanding of HR practices and employment law.  The Human Resources Generalist should be well versed and comfortable communicating with constituents from various diverse backgrounds.

 

HUMAN RESOURCES OPERATIONS (40%)

  • Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices, reviews and modifies policies to maintain compliance.
  • In conjunction with the VP of Administration & Operations, maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law and applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy to management.
  • Supports the administration of human resource activities including compensation analysis, benefit administration, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety and training, and development.
  • Contributes to the employee performance evaluation process; ensures all managers and staff complete performance evaluations annually and maintains records.
  • Advises supervisory staff on best practices, supporting organizational norms and culture.
  • Maintains all personnel, confidential, I-9, workers compensation, and 403(b) files to ensure complete and accurate employee records; periodically audits human resources files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Maintains and updates the Employee Handbook.
  • Conducts presentations and training.

EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE AND CULTURE (40%)

  • In collaboration with the VP of Administration & Operations, implements human resource policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Timely answers to employee and candidate questions related to CSWE including leave requests, benefits, policies, and pay.
  • Contribute to innovative programs, policies, and communications, nurturing a customer-focused, results-driven culture.
  • Pave the way for transparent feedback channels, including insightful retention (Stay) interviews.
  • Contribute to innovative programs, policies, and communications, nurturing a customer-focused, results-driven culture.
  • Conduct sensitive internal investigations for support staff such as specialist and coordinators, utilize a proactive approach, conduct confidential interviews, and provide a summary of the issue with recommendations on how to proceed.
  • Analyze organizational trends and report on HR metrics leveraging data from our HRIS and other systems.
  • Coordinates with insurance brokers to assess the organization’s healthcare insurance policies.
  • Safeguard confidentiality and maintain the integrity of employee data.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to management.
  • Identify workflow enhancements and spearhead change to ensure seamless operations.

TALENT MANAGEMENT (20%)

  • Collaborates with the VP of Administration & Operations to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention needs.
  • Utilizes best practices for talent management including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance evaluations, and professional development.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent.
  • Fine-tune onboarding and offboarding processes for a seamless and positive employee journey.
  • Manage job postings, and guide candidates through the hiring process.
  • Attend job fairs and recruiting events to recruit when there is a need.
  • Champion compliance with employment laws and recommend best practices.
  • Manages new-hire onboarding process; coordinates the pre-hire process, including preparing offer letters and new-hire packets, processing background checks and reference screenings; prepares new-hire checklist and coordinates first-day details with candidate, IT, hiring manager, and VP of Administration & Operations.
  • Supports with the maintenance of the organization-wide organization chart.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

 

  • Three-Five years (3-5 years) of experience working in Human Resources.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, organizational behavior, human resources, labor relations, or related field required.
  • Prior experience handling sensitive information with confidentiality
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
  • Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes antiracism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency with HRIS, talent management, and ATS systems is required; experience using Paychex is preferred.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

COMPENSATION
• The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience ($65,000-$70,000 annually).

ADA SPECIFICATIONS
This position is primarily sedentary and is performed in an office setting. The physical demands of this position are limited to the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and bend, stoop, and carry materials.
