Job Title: Cooler Supervisor


Reports to: Cooler Manager

 

Job Description: 

The Cooler Supervisor directly supervise and coordinates all activities in the Cooler department to maximize productivity on assigned shifts and areas. This includes planning, assigning, and directing work, coordinating daily/weekly Continuous Improvement (CI) Meetings, addressing product and employee complaints, and resolving problems. This person carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws while following all CI Processes and the Management Operating Structure (MOS). 

  • Supervises all phases of Cooler operations including shipping schedules, loading operations and material handling activities.
  • Supervisor reports to Cooler/Shipping Manager and assists him on all related cooler tasks to achieve a smooth and cost-effective operation. 
  • Maintains inventory and product loss control, ensures proper inventory rotation through FEFO policy and customer requirements.
  • Coordinates timely and accurate shipping and receiving and ensures safety/operational guidelines are met.
  • Ensures proper procedures are in place and being followed for, product/stack placement and storage on cooler floor maintaining efficiency, quality of product, employee safety, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Works with Cooler and Plant Management and other Supervisory Staff to assign, direct, review and monitor work of supervised staff (lead, loaders, pickers, Floormen and Yardman) to maximize productivity warehouse and shipping department.
  • Ensures proper procedures are in place and being followed in the cooler and shipping activities, employee safety, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Establishes and monitors employee’s work schedules to meet the needs of business.
  • Recommends improvements to reduce costs and drive productivity within the department while achieving the targeted Sales to Service Goals.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and shipping records as required. Prepares reports for management review.
  • Ensures the cooler work area is clean and always organized. 
  • Collaborates with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Trains and instructs employees regarding work performed in shipping and Cooler process. Oversees instruction, implementation, and enforcement of policies as they relate to employees.
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and delegating.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 


 Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a minimum of 3 years plant/cooler/warehouse experience.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures and OSHA regulations in the workplace.
  • Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to follow all Sanitation and Quality Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies. Have work area prepared for food safety audits.
