The scientist will design and conduct experiments to inform genetic engineering for avian de-extinction projects by identifying genetic variants and testing their effects in embryonic models. They will also perform in ovo manipulations, phenotype analysis, and maintain detailed documentation of research findings.
Candidates must hold a DVM or PhD in a relevant biological science and possess strong knowledge of craniofacial and neural crest cell development. At least two years of experience in developmental biology and working with avian embryos is strongly preferred.
An affiliate of Colossal is seeking a Developmental Biologist with background in craniofacial development that will work to design and conduct experiments that will inform genetic engineering for avian de-extinction projects. Leveraging their expertise in genetics and developmental biology, they will work closely with bioinformaticians to identify genetic variants of interest and test the effect of those variants in an embryonic avian model.
