Assist in the care and upkeep of colony properties, including grounds maintenance and general apartment repairs. Perform snow and ice removal to ensure resident safety and respond to various work order requests.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and must be at least 17 years old. Preference is given to candidates with experience in building maintenance, grounds care, and working with the elderly.
Maintenance Assistant
Reports to – Property Maintenance Manager
Position Summary – The primary role of the Maintenance Helper is to assist in the care and upkeep of the Colony as directed by the Property Maintenance Manager. This is a temporary (with permanent possibility) floating position that will travel through all of the properties weekly to assist the various teams as the season progresses.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Training – High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience with the elderly preferred. At least one year experience in building maintenance tasks particularly in grounds care and general apartment maintenance preferred. Must be at least 17 years old to be in compliance with the needs of organization and Child Labor Laws.

Colony owns and manages 389 apartments over 5 sites in Worcester and Holden. Almost all of our units are covered by a Section 8 contract with the US Department of HUD. As such, we have eligibility criteria for residents that include 1. US Citizen or legal resident 2. Low income by published guidelines and 3. 62 years of age or older or those who need the features of an accessible apartment.
