Company Overview │ Close Up is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, civic education organization that aims to inform, inspire, and empower young people to become active participants in our democracy. We believe a strong democracy requires engagement by all citizens. Therefore, we seek to reach youth from all communities and all backgrounds, regardless of race, religion, gender, socioeconomic level, or academic standing. Since 1971, we have partnered with schools nationwide to serve more than one million students and educators through experiential programs in our nation’s capital and in local communities, professional development for educators, and curriculum and resource design.

Position Overview | The educational outreach manager plays a key role in advancing Close Up’s mission by increasing student and educator participation in our civic learning programs and professional development opportunities. The person in this position is responsible for managing existing relationships, building new partnerships with schools and districts, and achieving mission and revenue goals through strategic outreach and sales. A successful candidate will bring strong communication and relationship-building skills to articulate the value of Close Up opportunities, leverage existing contacts and networks within the K–12 education space, and expand our reach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer value-driven solutions to customers that support long-term partnerships and student impact.
  • Develop and execute strategies to meet and exceed program participation and revenue targets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with school administrators, educators, and district leaders.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities for growth among school districts, educational networks, and civic organizations.
  • Deliver compelling presentations to schools and districts and at education conferences.
  • Attend Close Up programs to build new relationships and leverage existing relationships with educators to generate revenue and new opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments and teams to problem-solve and maximize opportunities for growth.
  • Maintain accurate records in CRM and provide regular reporting on pipeline activity, forecasts, and results.
  • Monitor trends in education and civic engagement to inform strategy and positioning.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree isrequired; background in education, public policy, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience (3–5 years) in partnerships, sales, account management,business development, or education.
  • Proven ability to generate revenue,manage a pipeline, and develop a network.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Passion for civic engagement, education, and Close Up’s mission.

Compensation and Benefits | In addition to meaningful and rewarding work, Close Up provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes two robust medical insurance plans, dental insurance (over 90 percent of premiums are company-paid), and vision coverage. Close Up pays 100 percent of the premiums for life/AD&D insurance and short- and long-term disability insurance, and offers flexible spending and dependent care accounts, a 403(b) retirement savings program, paid vacation/sick days/holidays, paid parental leave, a Metro subsidy or free garage parking, free gym access, and a positive work environment.
