About the Role
We are looking for a PetSmart Program Intern to join our team and play an important role in supporting CAC’s mission.
In this position, you will:
- Learn and be exposed to the administrative and creative functions of the Offsite Adoption Program. You will get hands-on training and supervised experience in preparing for events, maintaining supplies, and communicating with fosters and volunteers to support professional development in a nonprofit setting.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
Your day-to-day may include:
- Assisting and developing engaging social media graphics to promote upcoming adoption events under staff guidance.
- Observe and support the management of the Offsite Adoptions email inbox, including drafting responses for review and routing inquiries as directed.
- Assist with selecting eligible animals for events in coordination with the Senior Offsite Adoptions Coordinator as part of a learning experience.
- Assist in reviewing and organizing event bins weekly to learn inventory and event preparation processes.
- Help update event schedules, rosters, and related tracking documents with oversight and guidance from staff.
- Support promotional outreach by assisting with posting events on community pages, online groups, and social media platforms as directed.
- Assist in preparing printed materials, folders, signage and adoption paperwork for events while learning event coordination processes.
- Perform other learning oriented administrative or program support tasks as assigned.
- Supporting additional organizational needs as they arise

Qualifications
Preferred/Required:
- Passion for animal welfare and community engagement.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with an interest of developing these skills further.
- Basic proficiency in creating social media content or a willingness to learn.
- Comfortable using Google applications such as Gmail, Google Drive and Sheets or ability to learn quickly.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Friendly, approachable, and professional in communication with staff, volunteers, and fosters.
- Ability to work under supervision while gaining hands-on experience in a team environment.
- Comfortable working around animals and assisting with light handling as needed.
- Ability to lift 45lbs and transport event materials, if needed.
- Flexible schedule with availability to work weekends.

- While performing the duties of this internship, the intern is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use their hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, controls, or tools, listed above; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl, and use taste or smell.
- The intern must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions.
- The intern occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
