The intern will develop content for the CCA website related to current and future exhibitions while collaborating with the collections, programs, and communications teams. They will also assist in disseminating exhibition content to local communities and draft a final report summarizing their activities.
Candidates must be undergraduate students residing in Canada and enrolled in a program related to architecture, design, photography, or visual culture. Strong writing and communication skills in French and/or English are required.

Founded in 1979 by Phyllis Lambert as a new type of cultural institution, and currently led by Giovanna Borasi, the CCA is based in Montréal but operates globally through collaborations, partnerships, and off-site initiatives.
The CCA’s organizational structure is centered around three areas: Operations, Curatorial, and Advancement and Engagement, fostering collaboration and strategic focus. The Advancement and Communications functions are closely aligned to ensure coordinated outreach, visibility, and public support.

Par moyen de son programme de stages rémunérés, l’Association des directeurs de musées d’art (Association of Art Museum Directors) vise à encourager les étudiantes et les étudiants de premier cycle à entreprendre une carrière dans le domaine des musées d’art. Ce stage, réservé aux étudiantes et aux étudiants de premier cycle, porte sur un total de 420 heures et doit être effectué avant la fin de l’année 2026.
Bien que ce programme de stages encourage les candidatures d’étudiantes et d’étudiants issus de groupes sous-représentés dans le secteur des musées d’art en raison de leur origine culturelle, d’un handicap physique ou autre, de leur situation socio-économique ou de leurs expériences de vie, toutes les candidatures éligibles, quelle que soit leur origine, seront évaluées de manière équitable.
Mandat du stage
Ce programme offre la possibilité d'acquérir une compréhension approfondie des pratiques de recherche, de conservation et d'édition au CCA grâce à une participation directe à la production de contenus pour le site web du CCA. Le stagiaire en conservation de l'AAMD travaille au sein du département des publications du CCA, qui développe un programme éditorial aux multiples facettes visant à mettre en valeur et à faciliter l'accès aux différents domaines d'activité de l'institution, notamment ses expositions, ses programmes publics, sa collection et ses programmes de recherche.
La ou le stagiaire curatorial·e de l’AAMD rejoint l’équipe des Publications afin de développer du contenu pour le site web du CCA en lien avec son programme d’expositions actuel et futur, en particulier l’exposition présentée dans les galeries principales jusqu’en janvier 2027, intitulée « L’atout de la ville c’est qu’elle n’a jamais été parfaite ». La nature du projet d’exposition et du site web du CCA dans son ensemble offre au stagiaire l’occasion d’interagir avec le personnel des divisions des collections, des programmes et des communications, ce qui lui permet de mieux comprendre comment un projet curatorial est produit et communiqué au CCA. De plus, le stagiaire a la possibilité de travailler aux côtés des participantes et des participants au programme régulier de stages curatoriaux du CCA, qui débute en octobre, et d’apprendre à leurs côtés.
La ou le stagiaire curatorial·e de l’AAMD travaille en étroite collaboration avec le Rédacteur, site web du CCA et le Directeur associé, Publications, dans le but de développer une relation axée sur le mentorat et de garantir des occasions d’échange, de retour d’expérience, d’orientation et de questions, ainsi que des conseils de carrière à long terme.

Through its paid internship program, the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD) aims to encourage undergraduate students to pursue a career in art museums. The internship, only available to undergraduate students, is for a total of 420 hours and must be completed by the end of 2026.
While the internship program encourages applications by students who are part of groups underrepresented in the art museum field due to their cultural background, physical or other disability, socioeconomic status, or life experiences, eligible candidates, regardless of backgrounds, can apply for consideration and will be evaluated equitably.
The program offers the opportunity to gain in-depth understanding of research, curatorial, and publishing practices at the CCA through a direct involvement in the production of content for the CCA website. The AAMD Curatorial Intern works within the Publications division of the CCA, which develops a multifaceted publishing program with the aim to give visibility and facilitate access to the various areas of activity of the institution, including its exhibitions, public programs, collection, and research programs.
The AAMD Curatorial Intern joins the Publications team to develop content for the CCA website related to its current and future exhibition program, in particular the exhibition on view in the Main Galleries until January 2027, titled The fortune of the city is that it has never been perfect. The nature of the exhibition project and of the CCA website as a whole offers the AAMD Curatorial Intern the opportunity to interact with staff in the Collection, Programs, and Communications divisions, thus gaining insight into how a curatorial project is produced and communicated at the CCA. In addition, the AAMD Curatorial Intern has the opportunity to work alongside and learn from the participants in the Curatorial Internship Program, which begins in October.
The AAMD Curatorial Intern works closely with the Editor, CCA Website and the Associate Director, Publications with the goal of developing a strong mentorship-driven relationship to ensure there are opportunities for conversation, feedback, direction, and questions, as well as longer-term career advice.
