The Animal Care Specialist is responsible for the daily husbandry, health monitoring, and behavioral enrichment of bird species within the zoo. They also perform exhibit maintenance, assist veterinary staff, and engage with guests to promote wildlife conservation.
Candidates should possess an associate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant biological field and demonstrate knowledge of avian care and safety protocols. The role requires the ability to work in various weather conditions and maintain a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As an Animal Care Specialist in the Aviculture Department, you will be responsible for all aspects of daily animal care, maintenance of exhibits and plants, data collection, and documents. Knowledge and/or experience with husbandry for a diverse group of bird species is required. Your work involves an amount of independent action with less immediate leadership given after expertise is acquired.
