DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

This job description is a record of the essential functions of the listed job. POPULATION SERVED

The position does not involve direct patient care for a population of patients ages 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise are not required to serve this population.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the DON, this position will evaluate the quality of patient care and patient outcomes as they relate to healthcare associated infections. He/she will collect and prepare healthcare associated infection data; present infection data and make recommendations for actions. He/she monitors employee compliance in use of barriers and infection prevention measures; prepares and presents educational offerings for the staff; implements programs to protect the healthcare workers, visitors, and others in the healthcare environment. He/she is also responsible for the planning, organizing, developing, implementing, facilitating and evaluating all employee education programs throughout the facility, in accordance with ASM policies, current applicable federal, state, local standards, guidelines and regulations to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a current state license as LPN/LVN with experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing. Minimum, two (2) years nursing supervision in the long term care setting is preferred. Understanding of nosocomial infection definitions, chart review, functional understanding of sterilization, disinfection and sanitation. Adult teaching techniques, clear oral and written communication skills, project management, and policy management. Working knowledge of OSHA Blood borne Pathogen Standards, OSHA Tuberculosis. Protection, Title 22, State and Federal laws related to communicable disease, and DNV Standards. Ability to develop policies and procedures; ability to teach and evaluate clinical performance; ability to interpret state and federal regulations and apply them in specific settings; ability to interpret state and federal regulations and apply them in specific settings; and ability to collect and interpret data. Demonstration of ability to maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with medical staff, nursing staff and other ancillary department personnel throughout the facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct our infection control in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern such requirements in nursing care facilities.
  • Ensure that the facility is in compliance with current CDC, OSHA, and local regulations concerning infection control or standard/universal
  • Develop, maintain, and periodically update
  • Act as resource to maintain and implement written policies and procedures in consultation with health professionals and administration for the acute care hospital. Policies shall be approved by the governing body.
  • Monitor quality and appropriateness of care
  • Shall maintain current copies of all Skilled Nursing Facility regulations on These regulations will be available to all nursing personnel.
  • Responsible for notifying staff of additions, deletions and changes to Skilled Nursing Facility
  • Responsible for notifying the California Department of Public Health of unusual occurrences as specified in T22 75241. If the occurrence involves the discontinuance or disruption of services occurring other than regular business hours of the department, a telephone report shall be made immediately upon business hours of the department.
