We have been at the forefront of biotherapeutic development uncovering new ways of targeting the drivers of disease by creating next-generation biologics and small molecule products. Celltrion Branchburg, LLC is a subsidiary of Celltrion USA, established in 2025 following Celltrion USA’s acquisition of Eli Lilly’s drug substance (DS) manufacturing facility located in Branchburg. By linking robust local manufacturing capabilities with an existing direct sales network, we aim to generate greater synergies across our operations. Looking ahead, we also anticipate expanding into the global contract manufacturing organization (CMO) sector.

 Position Brand Description:

This position provides technical support and expertise in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and processes, with a focus on high-risk safety programs. In addition, the successful candidate would be a champion for Operational Excellence and partner closely with key stakeholders across engineering, maintenance, facilities, utilities, manufacturing, and labs to meet compliance requirements and company objectives. 

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  1. Develop, implement, sustain, and own safety programs including contractor management, working at heights, excavation/trenching, LOTO, etc.
  2. Maintain all safety programs and training to satisfy federal/state/local requirements.
  3. Contractor Management Responsibilities:
    1. Manage contractor qualification and maintain required safety documentation in the electronic tracking system.
    2. Develop conditional approval requirements and ensure appropriate oversight is in place.
    3. Conduct in person contractor orientation to communicate site expectations and requirements
    4. Support pre-job planning, approve safe work permits, and conduct field walkthroughs/audits to verify compliance.
    5. Provide safe work guidance for specialized access, including fall protection and rooftop work.
    6. Review and approve contractor safety plans for high-risk activities such as crane lifts and excavation.
  4. Serve as the primary Safety team point of contact for all capital projects during initial assessment/preliminary design stage; Support some projects in entirety from initial design through construction until complete.
  5. Develop and deliver safety training for Lockout/Tagout, Fall Protection, Permit to Work etc. Obtain specialized certifications to deliver other advanced training courses such as First Aid/CPR/AED, OSHA 10/30, Competent Rigger, etc.
  6. Conduct and support various safety walkthroughs and inspections across the facility.
  7. Support and lead the resolution of safety observations, ensuring timely corrective actions and continuous improvements
  8. Serve as a technical expert on EHS practices in relation to site operations, regulatory interpretations, and inspection requirements.
  9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams with the sustainment of EHS programs, including trending for improved site EHS performance.
  10. Support site operations as an area frontline EHS representative.
  11. Support the implementation of EHS technology systems and serve as a system administrator for EHS IT systems.
  12. Advise in facility/equipment design, project walkthroughs, and evaluation to control or eliminate EHS risks.
  13. Lead key elements of the EHS management system such as event deviation management processes, training, assessments/audits, change controls, business planning, and inspections.
  14. Continuously identify, monitor, and integrate internal and external best practices.
  15. Collaborate to develop safety priorities, operational improvement strategies and annual EHS action plan(s).

Basic Requirements:

  1. Knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory requirements and application of EHS principles, ideally in a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting or other regulated industry. 
  2. Demonstrated abilities to work cross functionally, achieve results with others, and negotiate win-win solutions.
  3. Well organized and capable of developing, implementing, and enforcing environmental health and safety policies and procedures necessary to provide for a safe and healthy working environment.  
  4. Development and delivery of EHS training.
  5. 3-10 years’ experience in an EHS role.
  6. Strong computer application skills.
  7. Strong organization and communication skills.

Additional Preferences:

  1. Experience working with external regulatory agency (OSHA, Building Codes, EPA).
  2. Experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or other regulated environment 
  3. Professional certification (EIT, ASP, CSP, CFPS, CIH, CHMM, etc.) preferred. 

Education Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or related EHS discipline

  2. Lifting not required.
  3. Required to be on call.


This role is exempt and the anticipated compensation for this role is $87,000 - $147,000

This is a banded role, and candidates will be placed within the range based on experience, skills, internal equity, and market considerations.
