Position Type: Education Support Officer - "Other Professionals" Employment Status:Permanent Part-time

We are seeking a part-time Careers Counsellor to work within our Senior School "Futures Team", commencing in Term 3, 2026.
This role ensures that students are supported to source, attempt and be successful in their chosen area of study, navigating the challenges of enrolment in a tertiary learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Undertake a range of professional activities and research involving the selection and application of new and existing techniques and methodologies in area of expertise, requiring professional judgement, and independence combined with high levels of competence.
Provide professional and considered advice to students and their families regarding available and appropriate pathways and transitions options and maintain appropriate notes and records to provide progress updates to senior leadership. This involves:
delivering guidance and career counselling, within defined accountabilities, in relation to pathway planning, tertiary entrance schemes and applications, scholarships and transition from school to work.
supporting students to make informed decisions about education and personal development related to career choices and decisions, including during the implementation phase.
assisting students develop individualised pathway plans and self-manage their education, training and employment options.
informing students of subject selections, prerequisite requirements for tertiary entry, SACE completion, ATAR attainment and post-school pathways.
Person Specifications
Commit to upholding and actively contributing to the Catholic ethos of the school.
Demonstrated specialised comprehensive experience and high-level professional skills to provide effective and empowering counselling to students and others.
Demonstrated accountability for a broad range of professional service outcomes with responsibility for the overall planning and delivery of work and associated outcomes for the careers counselling function within the College.
Experience in undertaking research and investigation and proven ability to develop policy and practice directions in area of expertise for use by other school staff.
Essential Clearances and Certificates
A University qualification in Counselling (or equivalent) and comprehensive demonstrated knowledge and experience in a comparable role, particularly with children and young people, including those with special needs.
Current registration and/or membership of a relevant and recognised professional organisation/registration body as required by legislation.
Act in accordance with the CESA Code of Conduct and the Charter for Staff in Catholic Schools in South Australia.
Hold a current acceptable Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance & screening to work in Catholic Education South Australia.
Hold current certification in Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect in Education and Care Settings.
First Aid qualification as directed by the school.
