Job Summary
Provides exceptional customer experiences by delivering outreach programming, information and reference support, and circulation services to meet the needs of the community on an as needed basis.
Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Functions
Delivers engaging programs for children and seniors both in the community and at library branches, fostering meaningful conversations and promoting best practices.
Conducts daily vehicle safety checks, operates vehicles in compliance with MVA regulations and library protocols, and monitors weather and other safety conditions.
Provides welcoming and professional assistance to customers, including reference support, reader's advisory, and circulation tasks.
Performs a variety of administrative tasks to support library operations.
Assists in maintaining outreach collections according to system guidelines and best practices.
Maintains professional growth and development through participation in library teams, committees, outreach, and training activities.
Clearly communicates library policies and procedures to customers, ensuring a positive and supportive experience.
Represents the Outreach Department at schools, senior groups, community agencies, and public events as needed.
Provides outreach-specific support as needed.
Performs other duties as instructed and assigned.
QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of all CCPL policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Commitment to outstanding internal and external customer service.
Ability to use clear, professional communication to create and tailor instructions based on individual needs and experience.
Thorough knowledge of reader's advisory services.
Thorough and current knowledge of information sources and search tools.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of collection development and maintenance.
Familiar with relevant computer equipment and associated software applications.
Ability to act as a representative of the library to the public.
Maintains a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and safely operates all Outreach Department vehicles.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree
Work related experience
Valid class C driver’s license with clean driving record
Physical and Environmental Conditions
Work typically requires moderate/strenuous physical effort in the handling of materials, boxes, or equipment (30-60 pounds). Work may require standing for extended periods of time and/or frequently stooping and bending.
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, and libraries, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations, and/or working in moderate to extreme outdoor weather conditions. May involve snow and ice removal from vehicles.
