The processor is responsible for efficiently unloading, processing, and reloading materials along a production line to fulfill customer orders. They must also perform quality checks, maintain a clean work area, and adhere to all safety and company standards.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for 8-hour shifts and lifting up to 50 lbs. Proficiency in reading a ruler, basic counting, and following written or verbal instructions is required.
Job DetailsJob Location: ARCH - Williamsport, PA 17701Position Type: 8 LABORERS/HELPERSEducation Level: High School or GEDTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: Full TimeUnder the direction of the Supervisor, Production, this position provides for the efficient processing of materials as may be required to satisfy customer orders. Responsible to unload materials in preparation for processing and to re-load materials upon completion.
Performs the following functions as assigned as part of the processing of materials along a production line:
Pocketer - Glues kits into books according to process codes.
Sizer - Measures each book with a ruler and pulls a plastic jacket to fit each book.
Inserter - Inserts dust cover into a plastic jacket, books without dust cover get protection tapes over the spine labels.
Gluer - Glues or tapes jackets onto books according to process codes.
Biller - Takes care of paperwork and checks the books for quality.
Responsible to perform other duties of equal or lesser classification irrespective of required change in department, hours (including mandatory overtime) or work conditions as directed by supervisor.
Responsible for regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Maintain safe, clean and organized work areas.
Cross training and substitution of tasks that may be of higher classification as required by supervision.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Finger dexterity and ability to measure and read a ruler.
Ability to read and follow written or verbal instructions, accurately count and have good eyesight.
Flexible to make appropriate decisions regarding safety in handling materials and respond to changing work environments.
Ability to work/communicate effectively and respectfully with co-workers and to adhere to Brodart rules, policies and standards of conduct.
Must be able to work in a production environment that may be subject to varied temperatures and other conditions, such as noise (conveyor), dust and glue or adhesives.
Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hour shifts and possess the ability to frequently bend and lift 35 lbs and up to 50 lbs occasionally and push book trucks weighing several hundred pounds.
This position is subject to scheduled overtime which may be required based on production needs.
