Position Summary

The Senior HR Generalist provides comprehensive HR support across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment support, onboarding, HR operations, benefits administration, compliance, payroll support, employee engagement, and HR process coordination. This role serves as a key resource for employees and managers by ensuring consistent execution of HR programs, maintaining accurate records, supporting compliance requirements, and delivering an effective employee experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 HR Operations & Employee Support

  • Maintains and supports the HRIS system, including processing new hires, employee changes, maintaining accurate employee records, and generating reports as needed. 
  • Supports recruitment activities, including posting open positions, coordinating candidate interviews, assisting with candidate communication, supporting offer preparation, and ensuring a positive candidate experience. 
  • Partners with hiring managers and HR leadership to support recruitment efforts, including tracking open positions, maintaining candidate information, and assisting with hiring process coordination. 
  • Supports onboarding activities, including new hire documentation, HR system setup, benefits enrollment coordination, and preparation of new hire orientation materials. 
  • Serves as a resource for employees by responding to questions and providing guidance related to HR policies, procedures, benefits, and employment processes. 
  • Supports employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs that promote a positive employee experience and workplace culture. 
  • Provides administrative support for employee relations activities, including maintaining documentation, gathering information, and assisting with investigations as needed. 
  • Supports the performance management process by coordinating timelines, tracking completion of evaluations, maintaining documentation, and assisting managers with administrative requirements. 
  • Provides support to managers regarding HR policies, procedures, and process updates. 
  • Manages HR and Payroll shared inboxes, ensuring timely responses and appropriate follow-up. 

Benefits Administration & Leave Management

  • Coordinates annual Open Enrollment activities, including benefit plan updates, vendor coordination, employee communications, and implementation of benefit changes. 
  • Supports day-to-day benefits administration, including employee enrollments, changes, terminations, and benefit-related employee questions. 
  • Completes monthly benefit reconciliations, reviews benefit invoices, and assists with resolution of discrepancies. 
  • Tracks employee benefit premium payments for employees on leave or following termination and assists with reconciliation and follow-up as needed. 
  • Administers employee leave processes in partnership with BASIC (leave management vendor), ensuring proper documentation, tracking, and alignment with federal and state requirements and CareConnectMD policies. 
  • Provides retirement plan administration support, including managing communications with Fidelity regarding new enrollments, file errors, plan changes, and employee questions. 

Compliance, Policies & HR Programs

  • Supports HR compliance efforts by maintaining required documentation, tracking compliance requirements, preparing reports, and escalating potential compliance concerns to HR leadership. 
  • Coordinates unemployment claims administration, including preparing documentation, tracking deadlines, and supporting the appeal process when needed. 
  • Assists with maintaining and updating the Employee Handbook, HR policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with company practices and applicable employment requirements. 
  • Supports the development, review, and maintenance of job descriptions for current and new positions. 
  • Assists with the creation, review, and updating of HR policies, procedures, and process documentation. 
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc HR reports to support business needs and decision-making. 

Payroll & HR Administration Support

  • Processes the administrative components of bi-weekly payroll, including preparing payroll updates, entering employee changes, reviewing payroll information for accuracy, and submitting payroll for final approval. 
  • Supports payroll-related benefit funding and account administration. 
  • Assists with payroll inquiries and partners with internal stakeholders and vendors to resolve discrepancies. 
  • Maintains accurate payroll and employee records. 

General HR Support

  • Assists with preparation and delivery of HR and Payroll information for new hire orientation and employee education sessions. 
  • Supports HR projects, process improvement initiatives, and organizational initiatives as assigned. 
  • Coordinates HR-related administrative needs, including employee supply coordination and other operational activities. 
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • PHR preferred
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in healthcare human resources

  • Knowledge of HR systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrate high-level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Solid knowledge of employment laws and regulations governing HR programs

  • Self-starter that can work independently and collaboratively, prioritize tasks and has initiative and excitement to take on unfamiliar tasks.
  • Advanced knowledge of word processing, graphic presentation and computer software related to specific tasks
  • Demonstrated excellent computer and word processing skills with special emphasis on calendaring, presentation, and spreadsheet capabilities
  • Working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and operations
  • Excellent composition, grammar, and business language skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, patients, and family members. 
  • Creative, flexible, well organized, resourceful, and detail-oriented
  • Excellent judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities and handle multiple tasks with a high level of efficiency

This is an in-office position requiring regular on-site presence. The successful candidate will work from our office location and collaborate closely with the HR team, leadership, and employees to support daily HR operations.
