Job Description:

Join Our Clinical Research Team!

Southeastern Medical Oncology Center is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Certified Pharmacy Technician to support our Clinical Trials Research Pharmacy. This position will handle the day-to-day operations of investigational medication management to ensure the safe handling and accurate documentation of investigational medications used in clinical research studies as well as help maintain compliance with clinical trial protocols, sponsor requirements and regulatory compliance to ensure the safe and accurate conduct of clinical research studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage medication transaction activities such as receiving, inspecting and reconciling investigational drug shipments, storing, labeling and dispensing, preparing for transport to satellite offices, destroying, returning and maintaining inventory accountability of investigational medications under the Clinical Trial Department Supervisor, Registered Nurse and Lead Certified Pharmacy Technician supervision.
  • Conduct routine inventory counts and reconciliation activities.
  • Monitor and document refrigerator and controlled room temperature storage conditions.
  • Identify and report temperature excursions, inventory discrepancies and protocol-related issues.
  • Perform accurate patient data entry and maintain clinical trial records within pharmacy and research databases.
  • Create and maintain study worksheets, accountability logs, inventory documentation and other required forms.
  • Maintain organized, complete and audit-ready study documentation.
  • Support sponsor monitoring visits, audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP), FDA regulations, study protocols, institutional policies and other applicable regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and keep it up-to-date during active employment.
  • Minimum one year of pharmacy technician experience required; clinical research or hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Strong computer, data entry, organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work as a team or independently while managing multiple priorities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and pharmacy management systems.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and move supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work with medication storage areas, including refrigeration and deep freeze units and controlled room temperature environments.
