Full job description

The Role

We are seeking a self motivated Business Development Manager with a true hunter mentality and real experience both originating and closing deals. You’re energized by uncovering key contacts at greenfield accounts, and you also know how to qualify, progress, and close opportunities using a structured sales methodology (MEDDPICC or comparable). You don’t need to be the most seasoned voice in the room but you should be fully capable of running moderately complex deals with utilities and data centers end-to-end, from first contact through to signature.

You’ll work closely with our sales and cross functional teams (marketing, product, and professional services), owning your own book of opportunities while looping in leadership on the biggest, highest-stakes deals.  Because our team and sales motion is highly multithreaded, disciplined CRM hygiene (we run on HubSpot) is essential.

The successful candidate will play a central role in positioning Camus as a critical enabler of accelerated access to grid power for utilities and data center developers.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development and execution of net-new pipeline among data center developers and utility partners across North America, resulting in significant revenue growth for Camus
  • Open and develop new prospective and utility partner relationships, with a roll-up-your sleeves approach to uncovering key contacts and prospecting
  • Qualify and progress opportunities using a structured sales methodology
  • Facilitate the critical dialogue between utility partner and data center customer to scope development needs and technical requirements of flexible interconnection
  • Achieve and exceed revenue targets by acquiring new customers and expanding existing customer accounts, with responsibility for forecasting and pipeline management along with proposal creation.
  • Collaborate with broader commercial team as well as product and professional services to define and structure complex, multi-million dollar data center agreements
  • Establish and nurture executive-level relationships with owners, operators, developers, and strategic partners
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, executive forums, and client engagements - expected travel is up to 20%
  • Impact climate change  and our futures through furthering Camus’ mission of decarbonizing the grid

What You’ll Bring

  • 5-7 years of experience in business development and sales within the utility or data center industry, with demonstrated success both originating new business and closing complex deals
  • Confidence in technical selling of complex and not-fully-defined early growth phase products and solutions - you’ll have flexibility to design the best approach to meet your customer’s needs
  • Proven hunter instincts, with track record of uncovering new contacts and forging relationships at greenfield accounts
  • Meticulous habit of tracking deal progress and risks at all stages of the pipeline
  • Strong CRM discipline, with fluent, near-daily use of HubSpot
  • Working knowledge of power systems (including transmission and bulk power supply), grid interconnection processes, onsite generation  or related energy technologies
  • Comfortable independently negotiating moderate-complexity contracts and ready to partner with leadership on the largest deals.
  • Passionate about transforming the grid and making an impact on climate change
  • High integrity and low ego - you are self motivated to do your best work and collaborate well with others

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary and uncapped OTE potential
  • Comprehensive benefits, including 401k and FSA
  • Fully remote workplace with options for in office work in the Bay Area
  • Flexible PTO, which we encourage you to use!
  • 12 weeks fully paid parental leave
  • A real impact on climate change - we’re building the world we want to live in and we want you to join us!

Camus builds software for grid orchestration — helping utilities coordinate large loads, renewable generation, and grid infrastructure in real time, within real network constraints. Flexible grid connections are where it starts. Our software helps utilities connect data centers, solar, and EV fleets 3–5 years faster, without waiting for major grid upgrades. Over time, that flexibility becomes the foundation for a fully orchestrated grid. Our team brings rare depth: founders who built Google's high-reliability infrastructure, combined with deep expertise in grid operations and distributed systems. We work with utilities and developers across North America to make grid flexibility standard practice. Learn more at www.camus.energy.
