About the Role
Camp Cosmos is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Stay-In Camp Manager to lead and oversee the smooth operation of our residential education camps. This pivotal role combines leadership, organisation, and hands-on management to ensure an enriching and safe environment for all participants.
As Stay-In Camp Manager, you will be at the heart of delivering exceptional educational experiences, coordinating staff, and managing day-to-day camp activities. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners while working within a supportive and vibrant team.
Key Objectives
Ensure the safe and effective running of the residential camp throughout its duration.
Lead, support, and manage camp staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality educational and recreational programmes.
Maintain excellent standards of welfare, health, and safety for all campers and staff.
Oversee logistics including accommodation, meals, and activity scheduling to create a seamless camp experience.
Act as the primary point of contact for campers, parents, and external stakeholders during the camp period.
Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of the camp’s daily operations, ensuring smooth coordination between departments.
Supervise and motivate a diverse team of educators, activity leaders, and support staff.
Implement and monitor health and safety policies, conducting regular risk assessments.
Handle any emergencies or incidents promptly and effectively, maintaining clear communication with senior management.
Coordinate arrival and departure logistics, including registration and orientation sessions.
Maintain accurate records relating to attendance, incidents, and staff performance.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment that supports learning and personal growth.
Collaborate with the Education Management team to align camp activities with educational goals.
Requirements
Proven experience in camp management, residential education, or a related leadership role.
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a diverse team.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to remain calm under pressure.
Knowledge of safeguarding practices and health & safety regulations within an educational or camp setting.
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
Flexibility to stay on-site for the duration of the camp and work irregular hours as required.
Valid first aid qualification or willingness to obtain one prior to camp commencement.
Qualifications
A relevant qualification in Education, Youth Work, Outdoor Leadership, or Camp Management is desirable.
Experience working with children and young people in residential settings.
Demonstrable leadership experience within an education or youth-focused environment.
