About the opportunity
Employment Type:Permanent Full Time and Part Time opportunities available
Salary: Hourly rates between $35 - $49.72
Location: Werribee Mercy Hospital
Werribee Mercy Hospital is entering a landmark new phase, with the opening of a major Emergency Department expansion scheduled for 2026. This expansion will significantly increase our capacity and enable us to meet the rapidly growing healthcare needs of the Wyndham community, providing timely, high-quality emergency care to an additional 25,000 patients each year.
As Mercy Health prepares to launch this expanded service, we are seeking Registered Nurses who are motivated to be part of something more than a standard role. These roles will play a critical part in building and shaping the nursing workforce that will support the Emergency Department from day one.
This is a rare opportunity to join a service at a defining moment, contributing to the establishment of a modern, high-capability Emergency Department within one of Australia’s fastest-growing corridors. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality emergency care within a growing and evolving service.
The new Emergency Department will offer you the opportunity to:
Work in a state-of-the-art, purpose-built emergency department featuring 4 dedicated resuscitation bays, a 16-bed Short Stay Unit (SSU) and custom-designed paediatric and behavioural assessment zones designed to improve clinical outcomes and staff safety.
Join as a foundational member of a major service expansion in one of Australia’s fastest-growing corridors, working within a structured rostering model with defined shift patterns (AM, PM and night duty).
Benefit from the stability of a leadership team that prioritises professional growth and bedside mentorship.
Access industry-leading leave options, including the ability to purchase additional leave (48/52) and access gender-neutral paid parental leave to support your long-term life goals.
Maximise your take-home pay through tailored salary packaging benefits.
Enjoy a reverse commute against CBD and inner-west traffic.
This is your opportunity to be part of a once-in-a-generation expansion of emergency care in Melbourne’s west.
Don’t just join an Emergency Department – help launch a legacy and take your place at the forefront of care.
Criteria:
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
Minimum of 12–24 months of recent experience in an Australian Emergency Department
A commitment to clinical excellence and continuous improvement
What you’ll bring
You bring compassion, professionalism, flexibility and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and service. You value teamwork, collaboration and creating a positive experience for patients, families and colleagues, and are confident working in a dynamic and ever changing Emergency Department environment.
You are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to a growing service and play a role in supporting the future of emergency care for the Wyndham community.
Where there’s life, there’s Mercy.
Where there’s care, there’s You.
Through the battles and the breakthroughs, we're there. Where will you be?
For over a century, our incredible teams have provided care for people when they need it most. Our people feel great pride in this, and they value the security and stability we offer. But it also means so much opportunity - to build on all that’s gone before, to grow your impact and gain experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.
As a for-purpose organisation with over 10,000 dedicated, compassionate people, we continue to offer more services and deeper care than ever before. With Mercy, you’ll have the chance to make an impact and gain experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.
Ready to help us shape the future of healthcare?
Please contact us if you would like to find out more or communicate any requirements to ensure we provide you with a fair and equitable interview and selection process.
