Position Title: Shelver
Supervisor’s Title: Department Manager FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Job Classification & Pay Range: $15 per hour
This position requires availability to work two evenings per week and two Saturdays per month.
Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the department manager or other senior staff member, this staff member returns library materials to their original location on the shelves after check-in, keeps library materials in proper order, assists with shifting of materials as needed, ensures shelves and library materials stay clean, and other related tasks as needed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Push and pull carts of books and other library materials to take them to their proper location on the shelves
Accurately organize library materials in alphabetical order or Dewey Decimal system order
organize shelves and library materials as needed, ensure that books and other materials are in the correct order, arranged neatly with labels faced in the correct direction, and kept free of dust and other debris
Share general knowledge about the library and the department in which you work with patrons when asked, or refer them to a staff member who can help them
Assist with tidying and cleaning department and staff workspaces throughout shift
Other tasks as needed, such as helping prepare craft items, assisting at the circulation desk for short periods, checking in and checking out items for patrons, and inspecting items for damage and reporting any damage to the appropriate department
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience:
Some high school education
Ability to obtain a work permit in the state of Indiana if under age 18
Familiarity with libraries
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
