BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Health and Safety Director-Ireland. The position will involve a mixture of working from one of our offices in Ireland, home and travel to sites across the region.
Reporting into the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Director – UK & Ireland. This role provides strategic Health & Safety leadership across BAM Ireland, ensuring the organisation's health, safety and wellbeing objectives are aligned with business priorities and client expectations. It involves leading and developing a high-performing H&S team, contributing to the UK & Ireland HS&W strategy, and working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders to deliver operational and strategic goals. The role also focuses on driving continuous improvement, fostering industry collaboration, and promoting best practice to enhance overall Health & Safety performance across the business.
Making Possible
Resource - Organisation & H&S Team • Work with HR, L&D and the Ireland leadership team to ensure persons are competent in line with divisional, Ireland & sector-specific H&S requirements • Engage with stakeholders to ensure they understand BAM H&S requirements and ways of working • Ensure training courses and training providers are fit for purpose • Ensure high-quality H&S support is provided to BAM Ireland at all stages of construction project lifecycle and operational activities • Manage and develop the BAM Ireland H&S team, fostering an inclusive environment that supports recruitment, objective setting, performance management, succession planning and the dev elopment of H&S leaders
Control Framework • Review and provide feedback on whether the H&S management systems and supporting platforms are fit for purpose and make it easy for people to succeed • Contribute to, or own, Ireland-specific processes and procedures • Promote regular review of minimum standards, policies & procedures to ensure they support Everyone Safe & Well Every Day • Ensure effective H&S emergency preparedness and Ireland resilience planning
Culture • Lead by example and help develop a safe and well culture • Influence the Ireland leadership team to ensure an inclusive, healthy, physically and psychologically safe culture is achieved • Support and embed Everyone Safe & Well Every Day • Champion and support the UK & Ireland wellbeing strategy • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure that H&S is embedded as business as usual • Collaborate with and support external stakeholders including clients, supply chain and industry peers
Assurance • Monitor and drive Ireland H&S performance against Group, Divisional, Ireland, Sector/Region and Client KPIs/metrics • Ensure compliance with divisional and Client H&S requirements • Enable support and intervention where H&S improvements are required • Review and monitor supply chain H&S performance • Provide H&S leadership during internal and external audits, and accreditation activities
Learning • Actively celebrate success and best practice • Identify and communicate BAM Ireland H&S trends, insights, learning and improvements • Ensure the production of high-quality H&S reports, returns, and communication alerts • Oversee and manage effective incident management within the Ireland • Ensure root causes are identified, actions are implemented to prevent recurrence, and learning is communicated internally and externally where appropriate • Embed best practice, learning & improvement as business as usual • Support and encourage professional development of the H&S team • Communicate learning with external stakeholders to support industry improvement

What do you bring to the role?
Qualifications & Experience
