The Experiential Education and Engagement Center (EEEC) is an on-campus resource that works to find new experiential learning opportunities for students, focusing mainly on service-learning, undergraduate research, and internships.
Working in collaboration with AUM campus partners, the EEEC’s goal is to help students become more engaged and connected to campus and community. This helps students:
-Create networks among professionals in the workplace, employers, faculty members, and other students.
-Develop career skills and competencies with hands-on learning projects that add value to the student’s degree program and enhances the student’s resume and/or portfolio.
-Enjoy a more complete and engaging university experience that leads to more career focus and readiness for the job market.
-In addition to supporting faculty and staff in integrating experiential learning into their courses, the EEEC has a peer mentor program whereby students who excel in an academic area can mentor a student who may have difficulty in that subject. Peer mentors are paid positions.
AUM announced the creation of the Experiential Education and Engagement Center (EEEC) in 2019 through a $2.16 million, Title III “Strengthening Institutions” grant awarded from the U.S. Department of Education. Over the next five years, the grant will support the center’s staffing and AUM’s efforts to improve student retention and persistence to graduation–objectives that will be realized through increased student engagement and faculty development, in collaboration with the Faculty Development Institute (FDI).
