About Working in Remote Camps
Our camps are located in remote areas and staff live on-site on scheduled shifts and leave camp on scheduled breaks.
Most of our LandSea camps offer individual staff accommodation, ensuite or shared bathroom, full meals, WIFI and some have health/gym facilities for staff.
Camp staff work long hours and multiple days in a row. A typical workday is between 10-12 hours (day or night shift) and overtime rates apply.
Health and Safety and a Respectful Workplace are essential for everyone working together at LandSea. Our camps are drug and alcohol-free workplaces and require pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
The Relief Chef and Baker is responsible for preparing breakfast and service, plus preparing all baked items, as outlined in a predetermined menu plan. Responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining kitchen operations, and ensuring a consistent and safe food environment.
About the Job, Benefits and Perks
Term position starting August 13th until return of incumbent
Wages starting between $24.62 to $27.70 per hour
Overtime pay
Schedule: 10-hour or 12-hour shifts depending on operational needs
Travel Subsidy may be available for inbound and outbound travel
Meals and accommodation while working on site
Partial uniform is provided
Camp Location
This camp is remote and located approximately 5 hours north of Edmonton, AB near Conklin, AB. Our team organizes all logistics and travel for employees to get to and from camp.
Job Responsibilities
Prepare and cook breakfast items such as eggs, omelets, pancakes, waffles, breakfast meats, and other menu offerings.
Set up and stock cooking stations before service.
Ensure all food is prepared according to recipes, portion standards, and quality requirements.
Monitor food inventory and notify management of supply needs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food products.
Work efficiently during busy breakfast service periods.
Support other kitchen staff as needed.
Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations after service.
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
Minimum 3-5 years' previous experience as a breakfast cook, line cook, baker or similar role
High production baking experience while maintaining a minimum of 70% scratch baking
Knowledge of breakfast food preparation and cooking techniques
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Food Safe Certification is an asset
Great communication. Speak, read and write English
Team player who can provide support, motivation, and encouragement to others
