At Alto, we are actively contributing to the transformation of Canada's future with our high-speed train project connecting Quebec City and Toronto. With the support of the Government of Canada, this innovative project aims to improve the quality of life of our citizens, strengthen ties between communities and stimulate economic growth.

Would you like to take on a stimulating, high-impact challenge?  We are looking for an Intern, Data Analysis to join our team for Fall 2026.

The role

We are looking for a data analysis intern to support the planning, coordination, and analysis of data as part of our engagement with the Canadian public. Reporting to the Manager, Market and Data Intelligence, the successful candidate will actively contribute to the collection, structuring, and analysis of data from various engagement tools (online surveys, interactive maps, digital platforms, etc.). They will also help monitor the performance of engagement activities and produce analyses to inform decision-making.

This internship is primarily intended for a student nearing the end of their academic program who wishes to earn academic credits through an internship. It offers a concrete opportunity to contribute to a large-scale project in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment. We are looking for a curious, thorough, and self-motivated individual capable of thriving in a changing environment and demonstrating initiative, sound judgment, and a strong attention to detail.

The responsibilities

  • Help develop, structure, and publish survey questionnaires online.
  • Coordinate the operational aspects of data collection tools.
  • Monitor the performance of engagement activities (participation and completion rates) and produce dashboards and follow-up analyses.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analyses (demographic and geographic segmentation, thematic analysis, trends).
  • Ensure data quality by identifying inconsistencies, duplicates, gaps, or errors and proposing corrections.
  • Document analytical methodologies and processes to ensure rigor and reproducibility.
  • Contribute to the production of analytical summaries, reports, and strategic deliverables.
  • Collaborate with various teams (communications, engagement, strategy) to maximize the value of the collected data.

 The requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a university program (completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree) in a relevant field: analytics, statistics, economics, business administration, marketing research, or a related field.
  • Experience in data analysis (academic or practical).
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Familiarity with analytical tools (advanced Excel, Power BI, R, Python, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of survey platforms (Granicus, Qualtrics, or SurveyMonkey) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking.
  • Rigorous approach, attention to detail, and ability to handle data in a structured manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingualism (French and English, spoken and written).

If you are passionate about data analysis and would like to contribute to projects that have a tangible impact on the community, we invite you to submit your application.

Why join our innovative team?

  • Basic paid group insurance for you and your family: medical, dental, life, disability, etc.
  • Access to wellness and health accounts to support your lifestyle.
  • Flex-Alto account of $500 to encourage a healthier approach and a more sustainable mode of transportation.
  • A retirement plan and savings options (RRSP and TFSA).
  • Vacations based on experience, available upon hiring.
  • An incentive compensation program.
  • Flexible hybrid work mode.
  • A work environment that encourages initiative, innovation, and forward-thinking solutions.
  • A unique opportunity to shape the future of transportation in Canada.
