About the role

 

The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing high-quality training materials and learning
content in line with the programme curriculum and Systems Approach to Training (SAT) methodology.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

Content Development:
Design and develop lesson plans, training materials, presentations and learner resources aligned
to approved curriculum and learning objectives.

 

Instructional Design Application:
Apply instructional design principles and SAT methodology to ensure e1ective learning
structure, sequencing and delivery.

 

SME Collaboration:
Work closely with subject matter experts to translate technical and operational content into
structured training materials.

 

Assessment Development:
Support the design of assessments, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and performance
standards.

 

Content Standardisation:
Ensure all materials are developed in line with approved templates, formatting standards and
quality requirements (e.g. ESAT compliance where applicable).

 

Content Management:
Maintain version control and organisation of training materials, ensuring updates are tracked
and implemented.

Qualification

Higher education qualification in relevant field of study

Degree in education, instructional design or related field preferred

Experience in instructional design, curriculum support or content development

Experience in military or defence training environments, Experience on large-scale training  programmes

SAT or equivalent certification
