Responsibilities
Prepare alloy wheels for repair and refinishing by mounting, unmounting, and balancing tires. Assist in the full remanufacturing process, including cleaning, sanding, and operating shop equipment under supervision.
Requirements
Requires basic automotive experience and proficiency with hand and power tools. Candidates must be mechanically inclined, able to lift 50 pounds, and have reliable transportation.
As an Entry-Level Remanufacturing Technician with Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists (AWRS), you will play an important role in the remanufacturing process by preparing wheels for repair and refinishing while learning the skills necessary to become a fully trained Alloy Wheel Repair Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with basic automotive knowledge and experience using hand and power tools who is eager to build a career in the automotive industry.
The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, and willing to learn every aspect of the wheel remanufacturing process in a fast-paced production environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform assigned duties following the AWRS remanufacturing process.
Complete work at designated workstations as directed by the Shop Foreman or Operations Manager.
Mount, unmount, and balance tires accurately and efficiently.
Prepare wheels throughout the repair and refinishing process.
Assist with all workstation responsibilities as needed to ensure production goals are met.
Learn all aspects of alloy wheel repair and refinishing through hands-on training.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Wheel Inspection & Preparation
Clean wheels and follow the AWRS Check-In process.
Mount and unmount tires from wheels.
Balance tires using balancing equipment.
Prepare wheels for repair by cleaning, sanding, masking, and staging.
Inspect wheels for bends, cracks, structural damage, mounting surface damage, lug holes, valve stem areas, spokes, and barrel defects.
Assist with identifying repair requirements before production.
Repair & Refinishing
Learn and assist with wheel straightening techniques.
Learn proper wheel singeing procedures following AWRS safety standards.
Operate shop equipment including Wheelabrators, sandblasters, and other refinishing equipment after training.
Assist with welding preparation and post-weld finishing.
Learn to operate a wheel lathe under supervision.
Assist with powder coating and wheel painting as training progresses.
Perform quality inspections throughout the repair process.
Workplace Standards & Teamwork
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Work collaboratively with technicians and shop personnel to meet daily production goals.
Assist other workstations when needed.
Continue developing technical skills through on-the-job training.
Complete additional duties assigned by management.
