Full job description

At Alamar, we are passionate about enabling our customers to make scientific discoveries that translate into clinical outcomes and benefit patients. Our team is growing quickly as we develop innovative approaches to measure critical protein biomarkers from liquid samples that can enable the earliest possible detection of disease. We believe the next frontier in biology is enabled by measuring proteins at higher sensitivity in highly multiplexed assays at the push of a button, which is something only Alamar can do. As we build our team, we seek collaborative, driven, intellectually curious people committed to solving complex challenges. Our culture rewards accountability and cross functional teamwork because we believe this enables the kind of breakthrough thinking that will accelerate our mission.

We seek a strong leader with extensive experience and knowledge in the proteomics and immunoassay market to lead our assay and consumables portfolio.  In this role, the candidate will be the product champion, build the strategy and roadmap, launch products, and own all product management responsibilities for a growing portfolio of assay and reagent products.   Responsibilities include developing market research, leading new product development teams, managing inventory, pricing, customer communications, and revenue forecasting.

The ideal candidate combines strong strategic thinking with a proven ability to drive execution and deliver business results for on-market products.

This position interacts with varying levels of internal and external personnel and will require direct customer communication, public presentation, and a team-focused approach.  Strong business and customer focus are essential.  Effectiveness in this role requires the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing product development and marketing plans, and a general knowledge of operating plans as well as industry practices for developing, promoting and selling similar products. The Product Management Director must exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results and is able to synthesize a decisive path forward based on all available information. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain the cooperation of others and conduct presentations of technical information.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead new product development process from concept through commercialization, including voice of customer research, definition of customer and product requirements and value proposition, manage product launches and sales training.
  • Analyze market trends, customer requirements, and competitive strategy, and identify opportunities for increasing customer and business value through product differentiation.
  • Build KOL networks and conduct SAB meetings to capture input on assay content to insure adoption by scientific community.
  • Present at scientific conferences and customer sites.
  • Manage worldwide supply, demand, revenue, margin, and pricing for product portfolio, update and present forecasts regularly to management, finance, and manufacturing teams.
  • Work collaboratively with other marketing and sales team members to drive growth for the business segment.
  • Must have proven ability to build relationships and guide teams, including representatives from multiple functional areas, including R&D, Sales, Program Management, and Manufacturing.
  • Serve as a cross-functional leaer who can identify risks, remove roadblocks, drive decisions, and ensure execution against timelines and business objectives.
  • Must be able to manage project scope, budget, and schedule to successfully complete project deliverables.
  • Must have experience in managing multiple stakeholders and resolving conflict within teams.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including oral, written, and presentation techniques.
  • Up to 25% Travel (international and domestic) is required.

Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of the proteomics and immunoassay market and landscape.
  • Requires knowledge and skills normally acquired through completing a bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in life sciences.
  • Requires 10+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree (PhD Preferred) with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Requires a strong business acumen with ability to develop business models.
  • Relevant experience includes experience in life sciences marketing, product management, and market research.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, along with the ability to comfortably present technical information to small and large conferences representing the company and the product line.
  • Requires strong customer-facing experience.
  • Experience developing and presenting product marketing materials required.
