  • Review drawings, specifications, conceptual designs, and contract documents to determine project scope and pricing strategies.
  • Analyze labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and productivity requirements.
  • Leverage historical cost data, market trends, and industry benchmarks to develop reliable project estimates.
  • Manage bid schedules, estimate reviews, and proposal preparation activities.
  • Support business development and client presentations during project pursuits.

Preconstruction Leadership

  • Direct all preconstruction activities from project pursuit through project turnover.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and operations teams to develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and execution strategies.
  • Lead preconstruction meetings and facilitate communication among all project stakeholders.
  • Develop value engineering solutions and identify opportunities to optimize project cost, schedule, and constructability.
  • Manage subcontractor prequalification, bid solicitation, evaluation, and procurement activities.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to improve project outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and company requirements.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing estimating and preconstruction team.
  • Establish performance goals and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support recruiting, training, and professional development initiatives.
  • Drive knowledge sharing and implementation of industry best practices.

Innovation & Technology

  • Champion the use of advanced estimating software, BIM technologies, project modeling tools, and data analytics.
  • Promote innovative approaches that improve estimating accuracy, productivity, and project planning.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical estimating, preconstruction, or project management within the construction industry.
  • Proven leadership experience managing estimating or preconstruction teams.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial, industrial, institutional, and mechanical construction systems.
  • Experience with design-build, negotiated, GMP, and lump-sum project delivery methods.
  • Advanced proficiency with estimating software, cost databases, Microsoft Excel, and project management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE), PMP, LEED, or other industry certifications are a plus.
  • Experience with BIM coordination and constructability reviews.
  • Strong understanding of procurement strategies, value engineering, and risk management.

Key Competencies

  • Strategic leadership and decision-making.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple pursuits and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Client-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional results.

Why Join Our Team?

  • Lead high-profile mechanical construction projects from concept through execution.
  • Influence company growth and project success at a strategic level.
  • Work alongside industry-leading professionals in a collaborative environment.
  • Opportunity for career advancement and professional development.
  • Competitive compensation, performance incentives, and comprehensive benefits.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based but requires periodic visits to project sites, client meetings, and preconstruction planning sessions. The role involves significant collaboration with internal teams, clients, design professionals, subcontractors, and executive leadership.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel to project sites and client locations as needed.
