Position: STEAM Enhancement Teacher

Job Status: Part-time

Our role is to come alongside parents and offer a biblical base for the academic education families are seeking for their children. Our purpose is to partner with parents in growing their children in Christ.

Our goal is to provide our students with a biblically based academic curriculum and to teach our students principles from God's word that they will apply to every aspect of their lives. The aide shall always strive to understand, appreciate, love, and serve alongside the teacher.

JOB DUTIES and POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and organized educator to develop and teach our elementary STEAM Enhancement Program for students in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. This unique position provides the opportunity to design engaging, hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

The STEAM Enhancement Teacher will create a year-long curriculum following a scope and sequence established by the school. Students will explore one STEAM focus area each month through weekly 45-minute lessons that are developmentally appropriate and differentiated for Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade.

Spiritual

• Maintain a daily personal devotional life to be prepared spiritually for the demands of each teaching day.
• Demonstrate, by example, love and obedience to Christ and His word. Motivate students to accept God's gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith.
• Attend all regularly scheduled devotions. Share on an alternating basis in the leading of faculty devotions.
• Attend an evangelical church and serve in a church ministry as the Lord leads.

Planning

• Develop and write a year-long STEAM curriculum aligned with the school’s scope and sequence.
• Prepare lesson materials and activities during the scheduled prep period.
• Submit supply request within an established budget to support instructional activities.
• Care for and organize STEAM materials and equipment.

Instructional

• Model, deliver, and craft student-centered, hands-on learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math that encourage creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. 
• Teach one 45-minute STEAM lesson each week to all Kindergarten – 2nd grade classes (currently 9 classes per week)
• Differentiate lessons to meet the development needs of each grade level while maintaining consistent learning objectives.
• Maintain a positive, organized, and well-managed classroom environment.
• Integrate Biblical principles into instruction and activities as appropriate.

Management

• Utilize effective organizational and time management practices to maximize productivity.
• Recognize the value of time-on-task and demonstrate overall good use of the workday.

Communication

• Maintain effective communication with students, parents, faculty, office staff, volunteers, and administration.
• Clearly communicate compassion and empathy to all students in keeping with the mission of the school.
• Reflect a Christ-like spirit in all relationships.
• Follow the Matthew 18 principle when dealing with conflicts and personal problems that arise between individuals.

• Be familiar with the school's fire, earthquake, lockdown, and emergency procedures and assist students whenever needed.
• Participate in assigned roles within the school's disaster preparedness plan.
• Comply with requirements to report reasonable suspicion of child abuse.

Requirements

Education

• Degree from an accredited college or university, Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience and Expertise

• Demonstrate Christ-like attributes in speech and actions.
• Demonstrate spiritual maturity, organizational ability, and leadership qualities.
• Three or more years of experience working in a school environment preferred.
• Expert level of technology and 21st century learning understanding and application.
• Deep knowledge of content standards, effective instructional strategies, and assessment driven instruction.
• Demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving STEAM experiences into Kindergarten – 2nd grade classrooms.
• Experience with developing and writing curriculum.

Clearances

• Must pass a pre-employment reference and background screen.
• Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States.

PHYSICAL: The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee is regularly in a typical office environment with adequate light and moderate noise levels.

EMERGENCIES: Must be able to quickly summon help when an emergency arises either in the office, classroom, gymnasium, or on the playground.

ATTENDANCE: In addition to the normal work schedule, also required to be present for faculty meetings and other special functions after school, and occasionally for meetings or other functions in the evening.

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., during school year (August – June)
• 12.5 hours per week
• Nine 45-minute instructional periods weekly
• One scheduled prep period for lesson preparation, curriculum writing, and material organization.
