The instructional paraprofessional supports teachers by implementing instructional programs, managing classroom activities, and assisting with student behavioral and academic needs. They also maintain classroom materials, records, and inventory while ensuring a positive learning environment for students.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and hold current First Aid/CPR certification. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.

Assists in preparation, production, and maintenance of materials and equipment as assigned
Assists individual students in performing activities instructed by a teacher
Assists teachers in locating materials for classroom, and assembles materials for teachers’ use as directed
Assists the student(s) in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks
Assists with/completes daily paper work (i.e., attendance reports, student referral slips, various student passes, weekly folders, permission slips, and parent notes)
Attends meetings and conferences as required
Carries out instructional programs and lessons in various learning environments as designated in the lesson plan
Collects data for assessment and monitoring purposes
Conducts story time for students
Coordinates completion of assignments with regular classroom teachers
Develops and implements games and teaching aids
Keeps up-to-date in current curricular standards and instructional practices
Maintains records necessary for effective operation of program, including annual inventory of all materials and equipment
Maintains student files, updating information as appropriate
Maintains, orders, and organizes inventory of materials in an effective manner
Monitors behavior contracts and reward systems for students
Processes book orders, inputs into computer, and maintains inventory of books, materials, and supplies
Proctors test-taking when requested by teachers
Provides reference assistance to students and staff
Responds to student behavioral support needs
Supervises students in the use of the various programs on the computer
Supervises, resolves disciplinary student issues in classroom or escorts to administrators
Supports students with social/emotional behavioral needs
Supports students with daily check in and check outs
Tutors students in various subject areas
Under supervision of a teacher, works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher
Works with students in one-to-one/group situations
Works with counselor and MTSS coordinator to support implementation of developed plans
Ability to adapt to changing technologies and to learn functionality of new equipment and systems
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to create, access, input, retrieve, and manipulate information in various software systems
Ability to establish and maintain accurate record keeping, document management, and filing systems
